Legislative Urgent Action

Please contact your legislator to either table or veto passage HB102. This bill would duplicate the current responsibilities of the SLP, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board by establishing a separate “Super Board” that would be able to determine the scope of practice of speech pathologists and audiologists. The Board would be made up of legislators and would not involve SLPs or Audiologists in its recommendations to change the scope of work for SLPs and Audiologists through the Legislature.

This board could ultimately affect what SLPs and Audiologists do in regards to both rehabilitation and habilitation of those that we work with and reduce how we are reimbursed for our services.

The bill can be found at www.nmlegis.gov under the “Bill Finder.”
